Armenia 1-4 Scotland (Scottish Football Mens National Team)

BBC Scotland Report: “Scotland recovered from a rocky start to revive their Nations League hopes by cruising to victory against hosts Armenia who finished with nine men.

Vahan Bichakhchyan’s early opener exposed a nervous visiting defence.

Stuart Armstrong’s swift reply was against the run of play, but Arman Hovhannisyan was then shown a red card.

Armstrong supplied another fine finish seconds later and John McGinn and Che Adams added to home misery before Kamo Hovhannisyan was sent off late on.”

Watsonians Win FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series (10/06/22)

Report on this page is from Scottish Rugby Union Website: https://www.scottishrugby.org/fanzone/fosroc-super6-sprint-series-review-of-the-round-play-off-3

“The final FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series placings were determined this weekend when Watsonians hosted Stirling County in the title decider and Heriot’s hosted Boroughmuir Bears for fourth place.”

“With just over 10 minutes gone in game Watsonians were first to get on the scoresheet. Full-back Harry Patterson collected the ball that had been kicked down field. He manages to get the ball away to Matt Currie who off-loaded to Lomond MacPherson who galloped in for the opening try of the game, converted by Lee Millar.

On the half hour mark scrum-half Sean Kennedy ran in a score for Stirling County after Marcus Holden made a break with Logan Trotter in support who passed out to Kennedy to secure the try, Holden then added the extra two points on offer.

HALF-TIME: Watsonians Rugby 7-7 Stirling County

When Stirling were penalised for hands in the ruck, Millar opted to extend the hosts lead through a fairly straightforward penalty for a man of his experience.

County took the lead for the first time in the game with 46 minutes gone thanks to an Angus Fraser try and another on the 56th minute by Stevie Hamilton (both converted by Holden) gave the visitors an 11 point lead with 20 minutes to go.

On the hour mark Watsonians got the maul moving and hooker Cal Davies secured the ball down over the try line, with Millar adding the conversion.

With the clock gone 80, Watsonians replacement Jason Baggott plucked the ball out of thin air to run in an intercepted try to earn Watsonians not on a seventh consecutive win, but the title of FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series Winners. (Millar added the extra two points on offer too!)”

Scotland Exit Euro 2020 After Group Stage

Scotland’s first appearance at a major mens finals in 23 years has ended after the group stage of Euro 2020.

After a disappointing first result where Scotland were defeated 2-0 by The Czech Republic, honour and good feeling was restored by a creditable 0-0 draw with England at Wembley. That result set Scotland and Croatia up for a winner take all head-to-head where the victor would progress to the knockout stages of the tournament. Read More
