Scotland have exited the 2024 European Football Championships in Germany at the group stage after a largely disappointing campaign. Hopes were high that Scotland could make the knockout stages of a major mens football tournament for the first time but all three matches were to end in relatively uninspiring performances for The Tartan army who travelled in large numbers. BBC REPORT – Tom English ‘Scotland stunned, sickened, suckered and out of Euros’ ‘Outcome the same, only year and city changes’ Scotland needed that break because their overall play was inaccurate and unthreatening. Same old, same old. We reached the 97th minute and at last they had a shot on target, although even it was questionable given there may have been an offside in the preamble. Grant Hanley had that chance, a close-range curler that was slapped away by Peter Gulacsi in the Hungary goal. A loose ball then broke to Callum McGregor, only a heroic block denied him a crack from close distance and you know the rest. A late kick to the solar plexus. In Scotland’s monumental pursuit of a place in the knockouts of a major tournament, the outcome is always the same. The only thing that changes is the year and the city in which the horror show unfolds. Article by BBC Scotland – Tom English ‘The agony, the ignominy and the long road home. The team that said they were in Germany to make history retreated on Monday with a notoriety of an altogether different kind. Scotland’s performance was, indeed, the stuff of legend, in one sense. Their statistics belong in a hall of shame, or one of those odditoriums with magic mirrors and optical illusions. Generations would stare in wonder at the numbers Scotland delivered here and question how on earth they could be so poor. Two goals (neither of them finished by a Scottish player) was bad enough, but three shots on target in three games is a lamentable figure. Seven individual players from other nations have had more shots on target than all of Scotland’s players put together – and six of that seven have only played two games. Fifteen other players have already equalled Scotland’s overall total.’ READ FULL ARTICLE ON BBC SCOTLAND: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9777vz1d08o ASSOCIATED LINKS SCOTTISH NATIONAL TEAM Scottish National Team Website https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scotland/fixtures-results/ Scottish National Team on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/scotlandnationalteam Scottish National Team on Twitter https://twitter.com/ScotlandNT Scottish National Team on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/scotlandnationalteam/ Scotland National Team You Tube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsaS5aZjlJPJCzNwjEc3waw BBC SPORT SCOTLAND: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/scotland STV SPORT SCOTLAND: https://news.stv.tv/section/sport
Scotlands’ Mens National Team have drawn with Finland in the final warm up match before heading to the European Championships in Germany. BBC Scotland Report: ‘Scotland head off to the Euros in disappointing fashion after spurning a two-goal lead to draw with Finland at Hampden. An ugly own goal from Arttu Hoskonen lifted sprits following a subdued start, before Lawrence Shankland nodded home to ramp up the celebrations. The Tartan Army party was put on hold when Benjamin Kallman pulled one back, before an 85th-minute penalty – awarded by the video assistant referee (VAR) – was slotted home by Oliver Antman. All eyes now turn to Munich as Scotland prepare for the daunting – yet exhilarating – task of taking on Germany, one of the tournament favourites in their own backyard next Friday.’ Full Report on BBC Website >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/clwwr7qeyx8t You can catch-up on tonight's action at Hampden Park with our full match report below ⤵️#EURO2024 | #SCOFIN— Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) June 7, 2024 ASSOCIATED LINKS SCOTTISH NATIONAL TEAM Scottish National Team Website https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scotland/fixtures-results/ Scottish National Team on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/scotlandnationalteam Scottish National Team on Twitter https://twitter.com/ScotlandNT Scottish National Team on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/scotlandnationalteam/ Scotland National Team You Tube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsaS5aZjlJPJCzNwjEc3waw BBC SPORT SCOTLAND: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/scotland STV SPORT SCOTLAND: https://news.stv.tv/section/sport

Scotlands’ Womens National Team have added two fine victories against Australia and Costa Rica respectively in April. Watch back the highlights from tonight's 4-0 win over Costa Rica at Hampden Park now 🏴#SWNT pic.twitter.com/o8lI93Owq3— Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) April 11, 2023 Australia 0 – 1 Scotland (7 April 2023) BBC Report: “Scotland produced one of their best results under manager Pedro Martinez Losa as they defeated World Cup hosts Australia in London. Nicola Docherty scored just her second goal for her country with a magnificent long-range drive off the post and into the top corner. And Scotland were well worth their win with a string of further chances coming their way in a stirring performance. Australia did hit the crossbar twice, but Scotland bravely held on. And it will be a huge confidence booster before the Nations League and Euro 2025 qualifying campaigns, beating a side who have their eyes on winning the World Cup when it gets under way in July.” Full Report on BBC Website >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65208829 Scotland 4 – 0 Costa Rica April 11 2023 BBC Report: “Scotland swept aside World Cup-bound Costa Rica as 17-year-old Emma Watson scored her first international goals after earning only her second cap. Watson, handed her first start in Friday’s win over Australia, got the ball rolling after five minutes as she pounced on a Caroline Weir free-kick. Claire Emslie helped steer in a Weir corner before the roles were reversed for the third – all before the break. Watson completed the rout with a stunning strike. It was a welcome hint of a brighter future on a night when Scotland were given a reminder of what might have been with a second victory in five days over a side who will be competing at this summer’s World Cup finals. Scotland showed why they are 13 places above Costa Rica in the world rankings as the visitors head to Australia and New Zealand without a victory in seven outings.” Full Report on BBC Website >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65232802 Everything you need to know about last night's win is in our match report below ✍️#SWNT— Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) April 12, 2023 Prior to tonight's match, @emslie22 was presented with a commemorative cap to mark making 50th Scotland appearance against Wales in February 🧢 🏴#SWNT pic.twitter.com/joRjkBQ9pj— Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) April 11, 2023 ASSOCIATED LINKS SCOTTISH NATIONAL TEAM Scottish National Team Website https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scotland/fixtures-results/ Scottish National Team on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/scotlandnationalteam Scottish National Team on Twitter https://twitter.com/ScotlandNT Scottish National Team on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/scotlandnationalteam/ Scotland National Team You Tube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsaS5aZjlJPJCzNwjEc3waw BBC SPORT SCOTLAND: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/scotland STV SPORT SCOTLAND: https://news.stv.tv/section/sport
Scotlands’ mens team have opened the 2024 European Championship Qualifiers with two home wins against Cyprus and Spain putting them (hopefully) in a strong position to qualify for the finals in Germany. Scotland 2 – 0 Spain (Highlights) BBC Report: “Sensational Scotland took a seismic leap in their bid to reach consecutive European Championships by stunning Spain in a heroic triumph. Scott McTominay crashed in a deflected opener after just seven minutes, triggering an explosion of noise inside a charged Hampden Park. Steve Clarke’s team rode their luck to stay ahead at the break, only for McTominay to repeat his earlier feat just after the restart to cause chaos in the stands as well as in the bamboozled Spanish defence. Scotland, in their first competitive victory over Spain for 39 years, now top Group A – three points above the humbled Spaniards and five in front of a stuttering Norway.” Steve Clarke had billed it as a must-win game against Group A’s lowest seeds, who ended the game with 10 men after a late red card for Nicholas Ioannou, and it was job done in that sense.” Full Report on BBC Website >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65022207 🗣️ “Magnificent set of players.”Steve Clarke spoke after his team earned a 2-0 victory against Spain at Hampden Park tonight. #SCOESP pic.twitter.com/0HkUjrvzKq— Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) March 28, 2023 Scotland 3 – 0 Cyprus (Highlights) BBC Report: “Scott McTominay’s late double secured Scotland a comfortable winning start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign at home to Cyprus. John McGinn’s close-range finish – the Aston Villa midfielder’s 16th goal for his country – was reward for a dominant first-half display. Substitute McTominay eased increased nervousness around Hampden with a clinical 87th-minute finish. And the Manchester United midfielder added his second moments later. Steve Clarke had billed it as a must-win game against Group A’s lowest seeds, who ended the game with 10 men after a late red card for Nicholas Ioannou, and it was job done in that sense.” Full Report on BBC Website >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64997970 ASSOCIATED LINKS Scottish National Team Website https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scotland/fixtures-results/ Scottish National Team on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/scotlandnationalteam Scottish National Team on Twitter https://twitter.com/ScotlandNT Scottish National Team on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/scotlandnationalteam/ Scotland National Team You Tube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsaS5aZjlJPJCzNwjEc3waw BBC SPORT SCOTLAND: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/scotland STV SPORT SCOTLAND: https://news.stv.tv/section/sport
BBC Scotland Report: “Scotland recovered from a rocky start to revive their Nations League hopes by cruising to victory against hosts Armenia who finished with nine men. Vahan Bichakhchyan’s early opener exposed a nervous visiting defence. Stuart Armstrong’s swift reply was against the run of play, but Arman Hovhannisyan was then shown a red card. Armstrong supplied another fine finish seconds later and John McGinn and Che Adams added to home misery before Kamo Hovhannisyan was sent off late on.” BBC SPORT SCOTLAND FULL REPORT: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61675624 REPORT ON SCOTTISH FA WEBSITE: https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news/scotland-win-in-style-in-armenia/?rid=1192 2022 – Scotttish National Team Videos and News from matches involving the Mens A Team HIGHLIGHTS | Republic of Ireland 3-0 Scotland | UEFA Nations League June 13 HIGHLIGHTS | Scotland 2-0 Armenia | UEFA Nations League June 10 HIGHLIGHTS | Scotland 1-3 Ukraine | FIFA World Cup Play-off Semi-Final June 3

Scotland’s first appearance at a major mens finals in 23 years has ended after the group stage of Euro 2020. After a disappointing first result where Scotland were defeated 2-0 by The Czech Republic, honour and good feeling was restored by a creditable 0-0 draw with England at Wembley. That result set Scotland and Croatia up for a winner take all head-to-head where the victor would progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
(20 Feb 2020) – Highlights and news from this weeks two Scottish Cup Fith Round replays which saw victories for Aberdeen and St Mirren as well as two extra time periods and fifteen goals in total. Aberdeen struck twice in the final two minutes of extra time to knock out Kilmarnock in a belatedly thrilling Scottish Cup replay and set up a quarter-final with St Mirren.
(26 Jun 2019) – BBC Report: Scotland are out of the Women’s World Cup after a twice-taken added-time penalty gave Argentina a dramatic draw. The Scots needed to win and Kim Little turned in their opener with Jen Beattie and Erin Cuthbert netting from corners. It was 3-2 after Milagros Menendez scored and a Florencia Bonsegundo shot went in via the bar and Lee Alexander.
